A recent discovery in Opava (end of 2022) unveils a remarkable artifact of the Urnfield culture: a gold sheet ornament of significant size and elaborate decoration. This singular find, characterised by its main concentric circular relief design of two different sizes, represents a unique archaeological specimen. Its dating places it within the Urnfield Culture of the Late and Final Bronze Age (1300 – 800 BCE). The artifact‘s purpose appears to be ornamental, likely serving as a headband or head adornment. Together with other distinctive head ornaments from Europe, it symbolised the exceptional social status of its owner.
