The Atlas of Historical Timber Roofs of Czech Republic is a selective catalogue of examples showing the diversity in the use of variants and combinations of the main construction types. Two requirements intermingle in the arrangement of individual records, namely sorting from simpler constructions to more complicated ones and chronological ordering. It was not always possible to apply both principles at the same time, but it is usually true that the reader proceeds towards more and more complex constructions during progress through the atlas. Rather than being intended for continuous reading, the book is expected to be used as a tool to facilitate descriptive classification, evaluation and comparison of historic trusses.
