This publication analyzes the use of new technologies that work on the basis of machine learning-based algorithms from a legal perspective. Systems using these algorithms make decisions automatically, without human intervention. The publication focuses on the legal regulation of automated decision-making and on some partial aspects related to automated decision-making, such as the use of algorithms, profiling and big data. The publication also deals with possible violations of human rights by algorithmic decision-making, namely the right to a fair trial, the right to privacy and the prohibition of discrimination.
