This work presents an on-line combination of a simple microgradient device for reversed-phase liquid chromatography and electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. The system was successfully tested for a complex peptide mixture originating from the digestion of the whole-cell lysate from Francisella tularensis subsp. Schu S4 and it represents a cheap alternative for the separation of both simple and complex peptide mixtures prior to MS analysis.
