In the 19th and 20th centuries, Zach’s Requiem solemne in C minor was considered as a „classical piece“. It dominated the reception of the composer and was his most-performed musical work. In the context of Zach’s oeuvre, the Requiem can be identified as an ambitioned composition from the period when Zach started his musical career in Prague (1731–1741).
