In this paper, the authors consider the characteristic of monotonicity of Orlicz function spaces equipped with Orlicz norm, and give lower and upper estimates for this characteristic. They apply a variety of techniques concerning Orlicz function spaces. Monotonicity has relationships to complex rotundities and their applications. It is well known that the complex geometric properties of complex Banach spaces have applications in various areas, such as operator theory and differential equations.
