Coverings, Networks and Weak Topologies

Abstract

Weak topologies of Banach spaces and point-wise topologies of C(K)-spaces are studied (here K is a compact space). The following negative results on covering properties are proved: the Banach space l.INFIN. is not .sigma.-relatively metacompact in its weak topology;the space C(.beta.N) is not .sigma.-ralatively metacompact in its point-wise topology.
