Gender-based violence has been and continues to be a controversial issue. Its differential treatment over time has first rendered it invisible, then fragmentarily labeled, without ever achieving full social recognition (as evidenced by the current denialism among parts of the population). This article seeks to reflect on certain aspects of gender-based violence that remain unaddressed as such (considered its 'blind spots'), specifically those represented by the sexual commerce of women (prostitution – sexual exploitation – sex trafficking) and the divergent legal and political approaches that exemplify a deliberately confusing and perverse distinction (legal limbo – tolerable – punishable)
