Abstract

[Inicio] En xaneiro de 1995 no Consello de Cultura Galega realizáronse unhas xornadas sobre pintura tituladas O Lugar da Pintura nos 90. Este encontro, organizado por X. Antón Castro e Juan de Nieves, foi referencial tanto polos nomes dos participantes (Juliao Sarmento, Luis Gordillo, Antonio Saura, etc.) como polo oportuno do debate naquel momento: tras a euforia expresionista dos anos oitenta, nos noventa comezaba outra etapa en que se impoñía a liña revisionista dos postulados kantianos do crítico Greenberg, a abstracción saía do illamento autorreflexivo: foi a chamada Abstracción Posformalista ou Nova Abstracción. Ao tempo que a pintura se reconciliaba co referente e consolidaba unha tradición xamais falecida, o debate da instalación e a reflexión sobre os contextos dominaba a escena artística; este debate alcanzaba tamén a pintura e formulaba a disolución dos límites que a separaban doutros xéneros e disciplinas. Coa dilución de xéneros ponse en evidencia que as nocións paradigmáticas que definían especificamente a categoría de pintura desembocaban nun complexo proceso de construción cultural forxado en convencións ideolóxicas, técnicas, estéticas, perceptivas, procesuais ou materiais que se foron asentando ao longo do tempo. Até o século XX, a historia da pintura occidental, supervisada polos principios da Academia, escribiuse aceptando que certas regras eran inherentes á súa categoría e asumindo que a súa función era a dun espello que reflicte ou unha ventá que asoma á realidade. O espello e a ventá dominaron a historia da pintura e non se abriron a demasiados cambios, eran o paradigma da correcta representación. [...]
