Avances recientes en la economía de los recursos pesqueros

Abstract

El incremento de la presión sobre los recursos pesqueros debido, fundamentalmente, a los avances tecnológicos postbélicos y los problemas de delimitación de derechos internacionales de pesca, con la extensión de la jurisdicción pesquera hasta las 200 millas, ha generado un gran interés entre los economistas por la gestión de este tipo de recurso natural en las últimas décadas. Los avances científicos en el análisis bioeconómico de pesquerías han girado básicamente en torno a las condiciones institucionales, biológicas y económicas que rodean la actividad pesquera. En este sentido, los planteamientos desarrollados en la literatura más reciente sobre el tema se pueden agrupar en dos grandes líneas. Por un lado, aquellos que modelizan el carácter transfronterizo de los recursos pesqueros y sus efectos sobre la gestión de los mismos, referidos tanto a recursos compartidos por diferentes estados costeros como a pesquerías que se extienden hasta aguas internaionales. Y, por otro, aquellos que recogen la incertidumbre asociada a la gestión pesquera, incluyendo aquí el notable interés que suscita el establecimiento de reservas marinas y su repercusión en los niveles de equilibrio de las variables relevantes
