The report deals with the role of information in the contemporary world. The main attention was paid to explanation of distinction between messages, data and information in communication channels as well as in the network systems. The following questions were introduced: 1) structural information as component of the world, 2) relative information as source of knowledge, 3) information in interpersonal communication, 4) information in Internet communication and 5) the role of data in contemporary management systems applying the computer run systems with integrated programs of analyses and database.
