Abstract

What is a manipulation? The researchers of that phenomenon as well as the theorists, define the manipulation in a various way and ascribe different role, depending on the place of functioning in society. As the expression, it exists in that form not so long, namely since XVIII century. Manipulation when coming into being, was and is identified itself with impact method, coexisting with commonly used society control method, meaning suasion, compulsion and violence. Apperaing of that manipulation expresion is also treated as an accompanying factor due to new interpersonal relation concepts. Is the manipulation the common phenomenon? Which sides of public and social life aspects does it affect? Is it only a tool in a single hand or raher group of people? As well as theory and in a reality, it shows manipulation to be a common tiling. It must be highlighted, that the manipulation is a concieously used by some group of people or indyvidual person in order to subordinate in following fields: sociological (spiritcal, ideological and emotional), as well as in phisical fields by evoking aggresion, provocation or scandal. The manipulation in mass media is very often observed as the intendend and secret action, in order to give a misleading overview of reality. Not telling the truth, not being open, by deceitful, dishonest and irreliable selection of information and using language methods acting on emotions, all of this is meant to be called manipulation. Manipulation allows ceating the personal attitudes, leading the societies behaviour in order to achieve the appointed aims and profits, as well as affecting the peoples’ emotion without even knowing by the manipulated person.
