Abstract

Se describe el sitio con pinturas rupestres Peumayen 2 (P2). La información se integra con la de otros veinte sitios ubicados en la cuenca del río Manso inferior (SO de Río Negro). La investigación se enmarca en una más general llevada a cabo en la Comarca Andina del Paralelo 42º (NO de Chubut). El arte rupestre es asignado a la tendencia estilística TAGC, característica de los momentos finales de la secuencia de arte rupestre de Patagonia y a la modalidad MALB. Se presenta la información concerniente a los aspectos tipológicos, tonales, cronológicos del arte rupestre. Se sugiere qué función pudieron tener los sitios dentro de la dinámica de ocupación de estos valles por parte de los cazadores-recolectores durante el Holoceno tardío.
