Abstract

El Chagas congénito es una enfermedad causada por la transmisión del Trypanosoma Cruzi de la madre infectada a su hijo durante el embarazo y etapa perinatal. La incidencia es baja. Se han descripto en este proceso factores placentarios, maternos y/o parasitarios. La placenta humana estña regulada por la actividad de factores humorales entre los que se encuentra el óxido nítrico, formado por la enzima Oxido Nítrico Sintasa. La otra isoforma descripta es la tipo II o inducible. El Oxido nítrico es parasticida y el principal agente deletéreo par el T. Cruzi. Como objetivo general se planteó poder identificar factores de la placenta humana y aspectos clínico-epidemiologico que pudieran afectar la estructura del agente causal de la enfermedad de Chagas y su capacidad de producir la infección congénita ene l embarazadas chagásicas. En nuestro estudio in vitro a las 72 hs. de co-cultivo de explantos de placentas normales con el T. Cruzi, el 98% de las células parasitarias fueron no viables, con una significativa diferencia con respecto a los datos obtenidos en células controles susceptibles a la infección por este parásito (células Vero) (p<0,05). Se observó relación entre incremento de niveles de nitritos en los medios de cultivos con aumento en la mortalidad delT. Cruzi entre las 3 hs. y las 72 hs. de cultivo.
