Los tobas/qom en su etapa reduccional con los jesuitas

Abstract

El presente trabajo pretende a dar a conocer el encuentro entre tobas/qom y jesuitas entre los siglos XVII y XVIII. Periodo en el cual se produjeron diferentes relaciones que dieron por resultado la conformación de reducciones, aunque con distinto carácter que produjo efectos contraproducentes en la etnicidad. Al comienzo con aportes pacíficos y al final con la resignación de una guerra que perduró en el Chaco durante todo el periodo colonial en que los españoles no pudieron alcanzar sus plenos objetivos de conquista territorial. En ese contexto solo pudo sobrevivir la reducción de San Ignacio aunque sin la precisión urbanística de la primera que se ajustó a las reglas impartidas para la creación de reducciones. No obstante contó con la característica de otras de su tiempo en que la autoridad española tenía injerencia al ejercer el formal derecho fundacional y el pueblo jesuítico cristiano termina convirtiéndose en prisiones de guerra.
