Abstract

We have studied trapping processes of a diffusing particle in two contexts: transmission in fluctuating media and diffusion mediated-reaction. Fluctuating media models are proposed as a MCTRW (Multistate CTRW) on a Bravais lattice whose region is limited by fluctuating barriers between two states: an a open or active state and a b closed or inactive state. At each end of the lattice a fluctuating barrier is included and the transmission probability is calculated. Transmission gain as a displacement probability function, the relationship between fluctuation and transition ratio and region length dependency are analyzed. On the other hand, diffusion mediated reaction processes are propounded as trapping processes through a trap, represented symbolically by a generic A+T → T process. Various dynamics are studied for both the diffusive particles A and the trap T. We have analyzed how these dynamics affect some quantities of interest such as reaction probability, particles concentration, survival probability and distance to the nearest neighbor.
