Propagación de fotones en gravedad cuántica

Abstract

Algunos modelos que describen la interacción entre los campos gravitatorio y electromagnético cuánticos predicen efectos sobre la propagación de la luz que podría ser medidos con la tecnología actual. Datos observacionales de radiación electromagnética proveniente de fuentes cosmológicas, sin embargo, establecen cotas muy restrictivas a estos modelos y ponen en duda su validez. Por este motivo reexaminamos en este trabajo la formulación de Gravedad Cuántica de Lazos y analizamos las suposiciones de partida del formalismo que, si bien podrían parecer naturales a primera vista, podrían no ser ciertas en la teoría final. En particular, se estudian las consecuencias de reemplazar la suposición de que el potencial de Maxwell y el campo eléctrico son variables conjugadas por la interpretación geométrica de que el tensor electromagnético es la curvatura de la conexión de Maxwell. Se analizan las ecuaciones efectivas de campo que resultan de esta hipótesis en la aproximación semiclásica, lo que permite estudiar la propagación tanto de un espacio-tiempo de fondo plano como en una geometría curva arbitraria, así como también los efectos de tener en cuenta la reacción en la métrica debido a la radiación.
