Abstract

O presente artigo tem por objectivo analisar a adaptação dos alunos do 1º ano ao ensino superior militar na Academia Militar, estabelecendo relações entre medidas psicológicas e o desempenho académico. A metodologia baseia-se num conjunto de sete testes psicológicos que avaliam a dimensão cognitiva, de personalidade e de adaptação. Posteriormente estabeleceram-se comparações e relações entre os resultados dos testes psicológicos e as avaliações das unidades curriculares. Conclui-se que os alunos com melhor desempenho apresentam elevado sentido de responsabilidade, eficiência intelectual, potencial para liderar e maturidade social. No desempenho do treino físico de aplicação militar é importante a aceitação das regras e normas, bem como a perseverança e o poder de decisão. Por outro lado, no desempenho da instrução militar, a eficiência intelectual, a estabilidade emocional, o sentido de coerência global, a capacidade compreensão, a capacidade de gestão e a capacidade de investimento constituem-se como as variáveis mais importantes. A adaptação dos alunos à Academia Militar e, consequentemente, à carreira militar, traduz a relação recíproca entre a Organização Militar e o seu ambiente. É na esfera da “unidade dual”, entre a cultura da instituição e a personalidade do sujeito que se formam os alunos e futuros oficiais.

This article aims to analyze the adaptation of students from 1st year to military higher education at the Military Academy, establishing relationships between psychological measures and academic performance. The methodology is based on a set of seven psychological tests that assess the cognitive, personality and adaptation. Later settled comparisons and relations between the results of psychological tests and evaluations of courses. Concluded that students with better performance have a high sense of responsibility, intellectual efficiency, potential for leadership and social maturity. In the performance of physical training of military application is important to accept the rules and standards as well as perseverance and discretion. Moreover, the performance of military training, the efficiency of intellectual, emotional stability, sense of overall coherence, understanding the capacity, management capacity and ability to invest up as the most important variables. The adjustment of students to the Military Academy and, consequently, the army, reflects the reciprocal relationship between the military organization and its environment. It is in the realm of “dual unity” between the institution’s culture and personality of the subject that train students and future officers.
