Brutalismo paulista : 3 arquitetos, 3 obras, o mesmo pensamento coletivo

Abstract

The present dissertation aims to record the study of modern brazilian architecture and its Brutalism strand of São Paulo. With its roots in portuguese neocolonial architecture, it jump started with the execution of all European and American Puritan Modernism archetypes which eventually prospered and matured to a self-claimed brazilian architecture style. Many are the historical moments that have crucially impacted the development of world societies. There is never a single chronological sequence line that carries a simple and direct narrative on world events. Therefore, the investigation deepens the premises that triggered the origins of the Modern Movement; the reach this movement had in its peak – in between wars, concerning Europe and the U.S.; and finally, its decline when the movement morphed into Brutalism. Filling pieces that are meant to create a chronological board of factual references which are found in brazilian’s culture and architecture. These remain relevant in Brazilian’s society and architecture up to this day.
