Abstract

O presente trabalho de investigação tem como objectivo a divulgação e valorização do património existente nas montanhas do Minho, em particular na Serra da Peneda, as Cardenhas, construções em pedra seca com cobertura em falsa cúpula. O estudo apresentado baseia-se na compreensão do meio físico e cultural que levou ao desenvolvimento deste tipo de edifícios e os factores da sua degradação e desaparecimento, assim como, a análise da sua diversidade morfológica e técnica construtiva. Os conhecimentos construtivos a nível estrutural e material adquiridos serão comparados com exemplos da arquitectura moderna e contemporânea, nos quais, a interpretação do sistema construtivo de alvenaria em pedra é um elemento crucial da obra, tornando-se importantes casos de referência para a elaboração do projecto prático desenvolvido. Culminando a investigação na proposta de recuperação das construções analisadas e a sua integração num plano turístico e cultural que é complementado por um Centro de Interpretação das Construções de Pedra Seca da Serra da Peneda, cujo projecto resulta da reinterpretação dos edifícios estudados, provando que estas construções em pedra seca podem constituir ensinamentos relevantes para arquitectura contemporânea, a nível estético, funcional e tectónico.

This research work has the objective of dissemination and optirnization of the existing patrimony in Minho mountains, particularly in the Serra da Peneda, the cardenhas, dry stone constructions covered with corbelling technique. The study presented is based on the understanding of the physical and cultural environment that led to the developrnent of this type of buildings and the factors of their degradation and disappearanee, as well as the analysis of its morphological and constructive technical diversity. The constructive knowledge acquired will he compared with examples of modern and contemporary architecture, in which the interpretation of the constructive system of stone rnasonry is a crucial element of the work. This examples were important reference cases for the preparation of the practical project developed. Research culminating in proposed rehabilitation of buildings analyzed and their integration into a tourist and cultural plan that is complemented by an Interpretation Centre of Construction of Dry Stone Serra da Peneda. The project results from the reinterpretation of the buildings studied, proving that such dry stone constructions may constitute relevant teachings to contemporary architecture for aesthetic, functional and tectonic level.
