A dimensão política na arquitetura e no projeto urbano

Abstract

The politic and the act of planning have always been linked, since the origin of cities and till the present day, and for centuries, politic as established power, has become the first figure in the decisions and choices that the architect and politicians take in relation to the city, sometimes overlapping interests that go beyond standards and laws... Fact is that if we analyze the word politic and its origins, we get impressed how it can be related to the city, architecture and planning, emerging as an element that helps to organize the city. However, over the centuries, and especially today, we have witnessed a "murder" of the city by those entities in the decisions they make, looking only to the benefits they have for themselves and assigning the blame to others. The intention of this thesis is to show that politics, architecture and planning, working and discussing with all entities, end up bringing several advantages not only for the city but for those who live in it, using this instruments as safeguard and welfare of the citizens.
