Esta dissertação tem por objectivo o estudo da identidade do lugar, sendo este território rural, e a valorização do seu património natural e cultural. O troço fronteiriço Transmontano identifi ca-se pela diversidade do seu ecossistema, parte integrante do Parque Natural do Douro Internacional, no qual existem aldeias, que de forma marcante defi nem o património local, pelas suas tipologias arquitectónicas. Como nota dominante sobressai numa primeira análise, o abandono populacional e o avançado estado de degradação do seu património construído. Depois de uma análise do território, são apontadas estratégias que levem à recuperação patrimonial e fixação da população, salvaguardando a sua identidade histórica e cultural. Assim sendo, seleccionou-se um antigo Solar de Bemposta com vista a desenvolver um projecto de arquitectura, que recupere a sua estrutura, e ao mesmo tempo lhe atribuir uma nova identidade, ou seja, a criação de um Centro Interpretativo, sem descaracterizar a matriz identitária do edifício e de Bemposta, devolvendo-o à comunidade, servindo-o como repositório de memórias que, responde às necessidades deste tempo e desta população. O ensaio projectual pretende então, ser uma solução de revitalização no sentido de promover a arquitectura tradicional deste meio, de modo a valorizar as actividades locais e de forma a estimular a procura turística e o incremento da economia local.

Abstract: This thesis aims to study the identity of the place, being this a rural territory, and the recovery of its natural and cultural heritage. The this Transmontano section its identified by its diversity of the ecosystem, and it is an integral part of the Parque Natural do Douro Internacional, with villages, that strikingly defi ne the local heritage, by their architectural typologies. As a dominant note in a fi rst analysis, it is clear the abandonment of population and the advanced degradation of its built heritage. After na analysis of the territory, we set out strategies that will lead to the recovery of the heritage and aim at fi xing population, safeguarding is historical and cultural identity. Therefore, it was selected na old Manor of Bemposta to develop na architectural project, wich recovers its structure, and at the same time, gives it a new identity, this means to create an Interpretive Center, without spoilling the identity matrix of the building and Bemposta, returning it to the community, serving as the repository of memories, responding to the needs of its time and of the population. The projectual essay aims at a solution towards revitalization to promote the traditional architecture of this territory, so as to enhance the place activities and to stimulate the tourist demand and the growth of the local economy.
