Abstract

Abstract: This dissertation focuses on the fusion of contemporary and traditional architecture. The subject came to par with some issues raised earlier in the development of the practical work and after becoming aware that the project involved two languages and two totally different times. The study focused on the consultation of bibliography, and essentialiy on the observation of practical cases, having originally made a research on contemporary and traditional architecture, according to the characteristics of greatest interest, namely the use of materials, design and form, so as social and historical contextualization. The chapter on traditional architecture was given a special emphasis on the study of Mills for being the kind of structure that encompasses the water mill which started the whole project case study. There is a short chapter dedicated to charm tourism since that is the intervention program. The conclusion of this study is that there is no universal rule for the confrontation of two types of architecture; it is in the working field and mapping creative thoughts or the architects intuitive that emerges the best solution.
