Migraciones y poblamiento urbano : Pereira 1950-1975

Abstract

El municipio de Pereira durante las décadas del cincuenta y setenta era el albergue de muchas familias que migraban desde distintos lugares de Colombia principalmente buscando mejores condiciones de vida. Las oleadas de violencia que se estaban viviendo en algunas zonas del país, generaron una movilidad de personas importante en el suroccidente colombiano. Sin embargo, la ciudad de Pereira vivía albores no tan palpitantes de esa violencia y consentía un comercio álgido que poco a poco le permitiría irse constituyendo como una ciudad importante y referente hasta ser declarada capital del nuevo departamento de Risaralda en el año de 1966. Los estudios sobre migraciones en Colombia desde el variable campo-ciudad se han centrado principalmente en el desplazamiento forzado a causa de grupos armados, latifundistas expulsores, y el crimen organizado en las áreas rurales. Pero no es ajeno considerar que las migraciones también se dieron gracias a espacios idóneos al mercado donde las personas podían trasladarse a consolidarse económicamente en otros circuitos económicos.
