Abstract

This project presents the results of a research process that involved leadership theories, multivariate statistical techniques and operations research to generate a proposal for a mathematical model to evaluate and rate the leadership dimension in Organizational Leadership of the Área Metropolitana Centro Occidente AMCO which is formed by the cities of Pereira, Dosquebradas and La Virginia belonging to Risaralda Department of Colombia (S.A). The methodology for this research was based on the use of multivariate statistical techniques as factor analysis and principal component analysis to analyze and determine relationships among the variables most representative of leadership in the AMCO. Subsequently was defined a mathematical model of efficiency using the technique of Data Envelopment Analysis DEA, which allowed to evaluate and qualify the level of leadership in a group of organizational leaders from the industrial sector in the AMCO. With the issues and instrument was created to measure the relative level of efficiency of regional leaders, which allowed a diagnosis of how they were in relation to the variables analyzed and to determine which of them should be strengthened to improve the dimension studying. With the completion of this project a computational software was also developed that allows each organizational leader calculate their efficiency in terms of leadership activity and to know the variables that need to be improved in order to enhance their performance as a leader. This project not only aims to improve the efficiency of the leaders, but also seeks to be a reference to generate proposals for training and development designed to enhance performance by developing capabilities that are been under-used.
