Abstract

An account is made of a study whose objective was to analyze the group of immigrant adults and older adults who participate in the Free Courses of the Program for Comprehensive Care of the Elderly Person (PAIPAM). It was carried out between the months of September and October of this year. A telephone survey was applied. Among the most significant results, it was found that 73% come from Central America, 46% have lived in Costa Rica between 31 and 35 years, that among the reasons for coming are the wars that were going on in their countries, because their children they came and then they decided to come too, because at some point in their early and late adult life they wanted to return to their countries, but today in their older adulthood they do not consider it, that of the cultural elements of their country what they conserve There are some meals, that the adaptation process was, for the majority, easy, among other data.

Se da cuenta de un estudio cuyo objetivo fue analizar al grupo de personas adultas y adultas mayores inmigrantes que participan en los Cursos Libres del Programa de Atención Integral de la Persona Adulta Mayor (PAIPAM). Se realizó entre los meses de setiembre y octubre de este año. Se aplicó una encuesta telefónica. Entre los resultados más significativos se encontró que el 73% provienen de Centroamérica, el 46% tiene de 31 a 35 años de vivir en Costa Rica, que entre los motivos para venir están las guerras que se vivían en sus países, porque sus hijos se vinieron y luego ellos(as) decidieron venir también, que en algún momento de su vida adulta temprana y tardía desearon volver a sus países, pero que hoy en su adultez mayor no lo consideran, que de los elementos culturales de su país lo que conservan son algunas comidas, que el proceso de adaptación fue, para la mayoría, fácil, entre otros datos.
