Projekt novej mestskej knižnice a mediatéky v meste Lausanne vo Švajčiarsku, rieši koncept premeny starej priemyselnej platformy Sévelin, na novú spoločenskú a vzdelávaciu štvrť mesta s metropolitným životom. Dva objekty knižnice a mediatéky mestotvorne ukončujú racionálnu urbanistickú mriežku štvrte a vo svojom strede definujú námestie ako vstupný bod platformy a tiež ako priestor vystúpenia aktivít knižnice do ulíc mesta. Tu je napojená stanica metra ako zdroj života, preto má miesto predpoklady na úspešné fungovanie a život. Koncept knižnice – „dom v dome, mesto v meste“, predstavuje skupinu troch objektov umiestnených pod spoločnou strechu a fasádou. Domy knižnice dospelých, mládeže a administratívy definujú medzi sebou dve átriá, ktoré opticky a funkčne prepájajú život celej knižnice. Preto systém „mesto v meste“. Objekt mediatéky je vysunutý pred objem knižnice a naznačuje nové smerovanie našej kultúry a práce s informáciami.

Project for the new houses of city library and mediatheque, solves the concept of redesigning the old industry area Sevelin in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland. Here should the new social and education district takes place, what brings a new metropolitan lifestyle. Two objects of library and mediatheque end up the rows of rational city grid at this platform. They define the new open space in between as a new entrance area on the platform Sevelin. It becomes also the extension of library activities to the urban space. Here also the new metro station takes place. Concept of the library – “house in house, city in the city” creates the group of three volumes situated under one roof. The houses of adults’ library, youth library and administration define two atriums in between. Here the life of the whole building meets together. Volume of mediatheque steps up the row and shows the new direction of our culture and media.
