GPON sít s modifkovanou koncovou jednotkou

Abstract

This article deals with security risks in passive optical networks. Completely passive infrastructure enables active monitoring of the distribution network in parallel with data communications. The specification of the gigabit passive optical network permits a fundamental risk, namely modified end units. This unit does not respect time slots assignments. As a result, all communication in the downstream as well as in the upstream direction gets disrupted. In general, this problem can be referred to as an attack to a specific port on the control unit. In this article, the modified unit is replaced by a laser at a wavelength of 1310nm and tested at different power levels to degrade the operation on a given port.

Článek se zabývá bezpečnostními riziky v pasivních optických sítích. Kompletně pasivní infrastruktura umožňuje aktivní monitorování distribuční sítě souběžně s datovou komunikací. Specifikace gigabitové pasivní optické sítě připouští zásadní riziko, a to tzv. modifikované koncové jednotky. Tato jednotka nerespektuje přidělené časové sloty. Výsledkem toho je narušení veškeré komunikace v sestupném a vzestupném směru. Obecně lze problém nazvat útokem na konkrétní port řídicí jednotky. V článku je modifikovaná jednotka nahrazena laserem na vlnové délce 1310nm a otestována s různými výkonovými úrovněmi za účelem degradace provozu na daném portu.
