Abstract

Introducción: En esta revisión bibliográfica se comparan diferentes protocolos de fisioterapia respiratoria, además de ver cuales aportan más beneficios al paciente y cuales generan menos costes a nivel sanitario. Y también se aportan las definiciones d un protocolo sanitario y fisioterapia respiratoria. Objetivo: Existe poco conocimiento sobre la relación entre la efectividad de los protocolos de fisioterapia respiratoria y los costes que generan al sistema sanitario. El objetivo principal es realizar una revisión bibliográfica sobre las técnicas utilizadas en pacientes con las patologías respiratorias seleccionadas, las diferencias existentes entre unas y otras, su efectividad y los costes que genera la aplicación de estas. Material y método: Se realizó una búsqueda en PubMed y ScienceDirect de los estudios publicados en los últimos 10 años que recogieran en el título o en el resumen los términos “respiratory physical therapy”, “protocol”, “rehabilitation” y “cost”. De los 4.292 estudios encontrados, se eliminaron 4.247 por no estar relacionados. De los 47 restantes, 27 no cumplían los criterios de inclusión. Y, finalmente, de estos se seleccionaron 20. Resultados: La mayoría de los estudios incluidos en esta revisión han demostrado que los programas respiratorios utilizados en las diferentes patologías son por lo general efectivos. Siendo el entrenamiento muscular inspiratorio el abordaje más utilizado en la mayoría de ellos. Además, la existencia de estos programas disminuye los costes en aquellos hospitales en los que se aplica.
