Abstract

INTRODUCCIÓN: El ciclismo profesional es un deporte de gran exigencia cuyas demandas pueden generar adaptaciones específicas, como déficits en el rango de movimiento (ROM) y falta de flexibilidad, que pueden ser factores de riesgo para sufrir algunas lesiones. OBJETIVOS: Describir el perfil de flexibilidad del miembro inferior y comparar la simetría entre extremidades inferiores en ciclistas de alto nivel. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio observacional en el que se midió el ROM de la flexión de cadera pasiva, la extensión, la rotación interna y externa, la flexión de rodilla pasiva y la flexión dorsal de tobillo a 121 ciclistas de carretera de élite pertenecientes a la selección nacional durante la pretemporada del año 2019. RESULTADOS: El ROM de la flexión de cadera pasiva se mostró significativamente diferente ente el miembro dominante y el no dominante tanto en hombres (p = 0.009) como en mujeres (p = 0.0026). Además, se encontró que hombres y mujeres presentaban ROM restringidos para la flexión de rodilla pasiva del miembro dominante (hombres ≈ 52%; mujeres ≈ 43%) y del no dominante (hombres ≈ 45%; mujeres ≈ 39%) y para la flexión dorsal de tobillo del miembro dominante (hombres ≈ 38%; mujeres ≈ 31%) y del no dominante (hombres ≈ 42%; mujeres ≈ 43%). CONCLUSIONES: Los resultados obtenidos en este estudio indican la necesidad de incluir ejercicios específicos destinados a mejorar la flexión de rodilla y la flexión dorsal de tobillo, cuyas alteraciones en el ROM podrían ser adaptaciones específicas del ciclismo.
