Abstract

Introducción: Uno de los riesgos laborales a los que se exponen los fisioterapeutas es la radiación no ionizante producida por los aparatos empleados para el tratamiento de pacientes. Se sabe que estas radiaciones presentan efectos a corto plazo sobre el paciente pero, por la misma razón, también afectan al fisioterapeuta que las aplica. Para evitar que el profesional padezca alguno de los riesgos producidos por estas radiaciones, se debe llevar a cabo planes de prevención donde se establezcan pautas para utilizar estos aparatos de manera correcta. Las mujeres embarazadas presentan, a su vez, riesgos sobre el feto, por lo que también debería de haber planes de prevención específicos para ellas. Objetivos: Investigar cuales son los principales efectos de las radiaciones no ionizantes sobre los fisioterapeutas y si los planes de prevención son necesarios en estos casos. Material y métodos: Se realiza una revisión bibliográfica utilizando distintas bases de datos; Pubmed, Google Scholar, EMBASE y PEDro. Resultados: De un total de 3070 resultados, 18 artículos cumplían los criterios de inclusión. Conclusiones: Las radiaciones no ionizantes producen riesgos sobre la salud del fisioterapeuta, sobre todo el aparato de onda corta. Estos riesgos podrían ser controlados mediante planes de prevención universales. Las embarazadas que se someten a estas radiaciones están en riesgo de padecer malformaciones congénitas, falta de peso al nacer, entre otros. Se requiere más investigación sobre el tema.
