El lenguaje de signos de los glóbulos rojos

Abstract

Un proyecto europeo de la Universidad Miguel Her­nández {UMH) de Elche avanza en el tratamiento de las infecciones virales que afectan al sector acuicultor. La clave de estas investigaciones se halla en cómo los glóbulos rojos dan la voz de alarma y comunican la necesidad de combatir los agentes patógenos. La investigadora del Instituto de Inves­tigación, Desarrollo e Innovación en Biotecnología Sanitaria de Elche (IDiBE) de la UMH María del Mar Ortega-Villaizán ha encontrado mecanismos y proteínas que los glóbulos rojos usan para alertar y combatir el ataque del enemigo. Sus ha­llazgos servirán para reforzar el sistema inmunitario de los peces de piscifactoría de forma sostenible y así garantizar el consumo mundial de pescado.
