Abstract

This final degree project focuses on an intervention program aimed at recovering personal autonomy in instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) after suffering an acquired brain injury. It is based on an occupational therapy approach, which aims to promote health and well-being through occupation, and to achieve participation in meaningful activities to increase life quality. This program is intended for those who have suffered brain damage, and its main objective is to improve life quality through participation in IADLs, more specifically, food preparation, shopping, and proper household activities. To this end, an intervention plan was designed based on a person-centered approach, using models such as the Model of Human Occupation, and different strategies to restore affected skills or compensate for those with greater limitations. In this way, interventions are adapted in a personalized manner according to the needs and aspirations of each individual, using specific techniques such as cognitive stimulation or motor relearning depending on each case. It will be carried out in fifteen sessions, scheduled twice a week in a specialized rehabilitation center, beginning with an initial assessment session and concluding with a reassessment. To evaluate the effectiveness of the program, various assessment tools will be used, such as the UK FIM-FAM and specific scales that will measure mobility and quality of life.
