Este estudio histórico-jurídico analiza la evolución de la participación política femenina en Orihuela durante el periodo comprendido entre la Ley de Maura y las elecciones generales de 1933. El trabajo se centra en cómo las condiciones socioeconómicas locales y el contexto político nacional y local influyeron en el acceso de las mujeres a la vida política. Se aborda el impacto de la dictadura de Primo de Rivera, el reconocimiento del sufragio femenino con la Segunda República y las limitaciones derivadas de la falta por parte del público femenino de la ciudad de destrezas como leer y escribir. A través del análisis de fuentes legislativas y propaganda electoral, se evidencia la progresiva incorporación de la mujer oriolana como sujeto político activo.
This historical-legal study analyzes the evolution of female political participation in Orihuela during the period between the Maura Law and the 1933 general elections. The work focuses on how local socioeconomic conditions and the national political context influenced women's access to political life. It addresses the impact of Primo de Rivera's dictatorship, the recognition of women's suffrage during the Second Republic, and the limitations arising from the lack of literacy skills among the city's female population. Through the analysis of legislative sources and electoral propaganda, the progressive incorporation of Orihuela women as active political subjects is evident.
