Desarrollo de un modelo murino de glioblastoma multiforme

Abstract

El cáncer es la segunda causa de muerte en los países desarrollados según la Organización Mundial de la salud (OMS), en concreto, afecta a uno de cada tres individuos a lo largo de su vida, provocando la muerte a una de cada cinco personas. El tumor cerebral más común en adultos, el Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), es además uno de los tumores más agresivos ya que, a pesar de los tratamientos actuales solo confiere entre 12 y 15 meses de vida tras su inicio a la mayoría de los pacientes. Debido a esta gravedad se justifica este trabajo en el cual se ha elaborado un modelo en rata del GBM que reproduce los rasgos moleculares del tumor por lo que permitirá la validación de nuevos tratamientos contra la enfermedad. Las células tumorales en el interior del animal fueron marcadas con una molécula fluorescente mediante unas condiciones que fueron previamente estudiadas in vitro con el objet ivo de optimizar sus parámetros fluorescentes. Además el tumor fue analizado inmunohistoquímicamente y determinado su tamaño en dos tiempos de desarrollo diferentes.
