Seguimiento de un pie zambo bilateral en el primer año de vida

Abstract

En este trabajo realizamos el seguimiento de una niña diagnosticada prenatalmente de pies zambos; a su nacimiento se constata la existencia de una deformidad en varo y adductus de antepie completamente reductibles y ausencia de equinismo. El pie zambo es una deformidad congénita que se caracteriza por una deformidad en pronación del antepié, aumento de la altura del arco longitudinal interno (cavo), aumento de lateral a medial de la flexión plantar de los metatarsianos con Metatarsus Adductus, engrosamiento y rigidez de los ligamentos posteriores y mediales del tobillo y tarso, manteniendo el pie en flexión plantar y el calcáneo y el navicular en aducción e inversión. Se desarrolla durante el segundo semestre de embarazo y se diagnostica en la ecografía rutinaria correspondiente a la semana 20 de embarazo. Es una patología infrecuente y usualmente con muy buen pronóstico. Mediante este trabajo intentamos exponer la relación que tiene la podología con este tipo de patología, su tratamiento, etiología, tipos e importancia clínica. Entre los objetivos de este trabajo está el mostrar la visión más podológica del abordaje de esta patología, ver la evolución de la paciente con el tratamiento instaurado, valorar posibles alternativas de tratamiento e informar de los pormenores de este tipo de casos.
