Abstract

The flood of plastic during the last years has caused negative effects in the ocean ecosystems. Each year almost 8 and 12 millions tons of waste finish in the ocean damaging the species who lives there, the consequence are the dead of a million of sea birds and 100.000 sea animals anually. According to a study commissioned by WWF and conducted by Alfred Wegener Institute Centre for Polar and Marine Rearch to know the actual situation about the impact and the scale of plastic pollution notes that microplastics concentration has already been exceded in several regions around the world like the Mediterranean. Current projected growth in plastic is expected to quadupling plastic debris by 2050. These products take a lot of time to descompose some reach 600 years only to use a few minutes. The culture of society is a throw-away object, it´s important to change the way of consuming for the wellness of the planet.
