Conductas sedentarias, variables sociodemográficas y su relación con el nivel de actividad física en adolescentes

Abstract

Este estudio analizó la influencia de las conductas sedentarias y variables sociodemográficas en el nivel de actividad física de una muestra de estudiantes de secundaria (de 1º a 4º de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria). La muestra fue de 304 adolescentes, que proporcionaron los datos tras completar cuestionarios auto informados (cuestionarios de variables sociodemográficas, conductas sedentarias y actividad física). Los resultados indicaron que los niveles de actividad física eran más altos en los chicos, los/las estudiantes de mayor estatus socioeconómico y los/las estudiantes de menor edad. Además, hacer deberes sin ordenador en fin de semana y realizar hobbies cognitivos entre semana mostraron una relación positiva con la actividad física. Por el contrario, leer por placer los fines de semana relacionó negativamente con la actividad física. Los resultados de este estudio muestran que existen conductas sedentarias distintas al ocio tecnológico que merecen incorporarse a la hora de estudiar el sedentarismo. Sin embargo, también se muestra la coexistencia entre distintas conductas sedentarias y la práctica de actividad física.
