Abstract

Las enfermedades cardiovasculares (ECV) son las que afectan al corazón y los vasos sanguíneos. Son la principal causa de muerte en el mundo. Debido a su elevada prevalencia, se consideran un problema para la salud pública. Los principales factores de riesgo que se asocian a tener una mayor probabilidad de padecer esta enfermedad son: la hipercolesterolemia, la hipertensión arterial, la diabetes, el tabaquismo, la inactividad física, la obesidad, y mala alimentación, la edad, el sexo masculino, la herencia genética, etc. Es recomendable que las personas que tengan un alto riesgo cardiovascular, realicen cambios en su estilo de vida, lleven un seguimiento y si es necesario tratamiento farmacológico, ya que tienen mayor riesgo de padecer infartos de miocardio, insuficiencia cardíaca, accidentes cerebrovasculares y otras complicaciones El objetivo de la revisión bibliográfica es detallar los factores de riesgo que se relacionan con la enfermedad cardiovascular e identificar cuáles de ellos tienen una mayor repercusión en el desarrollo de dicha enfermedad. El trabajo se ha llevado a cabo realizando una búsqueda bibliográfica sobre los factores de riesgo cardiovascular usando la base de datos PubMed, la Revista Española de cardiología, el manual Washington de especialidades clínicas. Cardiología. Editorial Wolters Kluwer y libro Braunwald Cardiología en atención primaria. Prevenciones y poblaciones especiales. Editorial Elsevier. Para la búsqueda se usaron una serie de filtros y palabras clave. En cuanto a los resultados, se exponen los diferentes factores de riesgos y su prevención para reducir la enfermedad cardiovascular de la población adulta.
