Análisis de la optimización del contenido de asfalto a partir de la incorporación de cal hidratada en mezclas densas en caliente

Abstract

La presente investigación consiste en evaluar la optimización del contenido de cemento asfáltico en el diseño de una mezcla MD25 incorporando cal hidratada como aditivo a los agregados pétreos, para lo anterior, se realizaron tres diseños en el que se realizó la variación de contenido de cal en un 0%, 1% y 1.5% y en el contenido de cemento asfáltico entre un 5.0%, 5.5%, 6.0% y 6.5%; se efectuaron los ensayos correspondientes que permitieran determinar las granulometrías de los materiales, las gravedades específicas, los vacíos, estabilidades y flujos. Se identificó el contenido de cal hidratada que permitiera una optimización, garantizando la calidad de la mezcla; en estudio se destaca la mejora en la adherencia entre los agregados y el cemento asfáltico, la reducción en el porcentaje de los vacíos y una mayor vida útil de la mezcla; también se encontró que en el ensayo de estabilidad se logró observar una mayor resistencia a la humedad. Por último, se recomienda que la incorporación de la cal se lleve a cabo a temperatura ambiente con el fin de evitar su reacción con la humedad, generando variaciones en la mezcla.
