Our study aims to examine an essential sphere of Ernesto Sábato’s literary work El túnel: the spatial element, that is, the space identified with the city of Buenos Aires, its streets, avenues, buildings. It is a (fictional) city inhabited by the characters of the novel, a place where a great love grows –this love will end dramatically with María Iribarte’s death. It is also the (real) city of Ernesto Sábato, of the Argentinians and of many other people who live there.
