Esta investigación nace de la necesidad de definir los conceptos que orientan y estructuran las áreas del currículo de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad Católica de Colombia. El objetivo de la investigación se centró en la construcción del estado del arte de los conceptos que definen al diseño constructivo visto desde los procesos técnicos, estructurales y constructivos, como parte de la acción proyectual que implica el diseño arquitectónico. La metodología aplicada puede considerarse como deductiva, en tanto se estudio un largo proceso histórico, del cual se extractaron los conceptos que sirven para complementar la construcción del significado de diseño constructivo. A manera de conclusión podemos decir que en términos de diseño en arquitectura, tanto lo creativo como lo constructivo se constituyen en determinantes mutuos, es decir que si los elementos constructivos vinculados en un hecho arquitectónico, se prevén desde el ejercicio del diseño, seguramente el proyecto arquitectónico resultará mucho más satisfactorio, en tanto el diseño constructivo ha anticipado todo proceso operativo.

This research is born out of the necessity for defining the concepts that guide and structure the areas of the curriculum of the Faculty of Architecture of the Catholic University of Colombia. The objective of the research was centered in the construction of the state of the art of the concepts that define the constructive design seen from the technical, structural and constructive processes, as a part of the projectual action that implies the architectural design. The applied methodology can be considered as deductive, as long as it studies a long historical process, of which the concepts were summarized which are good to supplement the construction of the meaning of constructive design. By way of conclusion we can say that in design terms of architecture, most of the creative aspects and the constructive are constituted in mutual ways, that is to say that if the constructive elements linked in an architectural fact, come from the exercise of the design, the architectural project will surely be much more satisfactory, as long as the constructive design has advanced all operative process.
