Abstract

La situación ambiental actual ha generado un interés generalizado en el estudio e implementación de técnicas de aprovechamiento de diferentes materiales en la construcción de carreteras. Los derrames de petróleo constituyen un riesgo para el ambiente y las comunidades, por lo cual se hace necesario establecer un estudio en el que se caractericen sus propiedades y se permita determinar su funcionalidad y prestaciones al ser mezclados con materiales típicos de estructuras de pavimento. Para esta investigación se usó asfalto natural o asfaltita como material análogo a un material proveniente de campos de infiltración petroleros, a partir de estudios previos que utilizaron bases y sub-bases granulares mezcladas con asfaltita, que posteriormente fueron objeto de una modelación con elementos finitos que permitió conocer el comportamiento y su aporte a la estabilización de un pavimento ante el efecto de cargas dinámicas.
