Abstract

Los pavimentos rígidos o flexibles son carpetas de rodamiento multicapas, compuestas por agregados minerales recubiertos y sementados con asfaltos o cementos y una o más bases o sub bases, capaz de resistir altos esfuerzos y fluir bajo la acción de cargas permanentes , éste tipo de pavimento tiene una alta incidencia en la construcción de carreteras y vías urbanas; es por esta razón que, constantemente se busca como mejorar no solo el asfalto, sino las capas que lo componen, permitiendo que su durabilidad y resistencia sean mayor. De acuerdo con lo anterior se ha evidenciado que en Colombia como en otros países, se realizan investigaciones que identifican y analizan las principales características de las capas que conforman los pavimentos flexibles, de igual manera se desarrollan trabajos académicos relacionados con el mejoramiento de éstas capas, mediante la adición de a o agregados, especialmente de uso reciclado, analizando sus propiedades físico mecánicas y determinando su éstos agregado son útiles, particularmente para ser usados como estabilizantes. Por lo anterior, el propósito de este artículo es dar a conocer los resultados obtenidos de la investigación realizada que tuvo como objetivo Comparar el comportamiento de la base granular modificada con cemento, reemplazando el 2%, 4% y 6% de material granular con PET reciclado tipo escamas No 4, con el fin de determinar si éste puede ser usado como estabilizante.
