A mediados del siglo XI se constituía el germen de un nuevo movimiento religioso y político: los almorávides. Con el paso de los años expandieron su territorio hacia el Norte de África y al-Andalus, formando un imperio que asistió por primera vez en el Occidente islámico a la unión política, cultural, y concretamente artística de ambas orillas del Estrecho. Este trabajo se enfocará en la arquitectura religiosa de este período, centrándose en las mezquitas (y demás edificios que forman parte de su arquitectura) de Fes, Marrakech, Sevilla y Granada.
