Estudio experimental del vaciado capilar inducido geométricamente

Abstract

In this work, an experimental study of the emptying of several liquids from horizontal capillary tubes with different geometry is proposed. The main goal is to experimentally verify the theoretical results presented in a recent scientific paper, which characterizes the behavior of the fluid (emptying / not emptying) as a function of the contact angle and the ratio R/a, where R is the radius of the tube and to the capillary length. In order to experimentally vary these parameters, the construction of cylindrical capillary tubes of different size, geometry and material has been necessary. Aqueous solutions of a surfactant with different concentrations have also been prepared, thus varying the surface tensign coefficient, which has been measured in a tensiometer. In addition, for each pair of material-liquid, the contact angle has been measured. Finally, the emptying experiments have been carried out, which have been compared with the theoretical results, obtaining a good agreement.
