Acupuntura en el tratamiento de los trastornos temporomandibulares

Abstract

Objetivo: La finalidad de esta revisión es analizar la eficacia de la acupuntura en el tratamiento de los trastornos temporomandibulares. Métodos: Diseño: revisión sistemática de ensayos clínicos. Base de datos: Pubmed, PEDro, Scopus. Selección: ensayos clínicos aleatorizados, con antigüedad máxima de 10 años y una puntuación mínima de 3 puntos en la escala Jadad. Estrategia de búsqueda: se buscaron ensayos clínicos aleatorizados con la palabra ‘temporomandibular joint myofascial pain’ en combinación mediante el conector booleano ‘AND’ con la palabra ‘acupuncture’. Resultados: fueron hallados 116 artículos de los cuales 8 cumplieron con todos los criterios de inclusión. Conclusiones: Aunque hay limitaciones y la evidencia es moderada podemos decir que la acupuntura es una alternativa eficaz en el tratamiento de los trastornos temporomanbulares

Objective: The purpose of this review is to analyze the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders. Methods: Design: systematic review of clinical trials. Databases: Pubmed, PEDro, Scopus. Selection: Randomized clinical trials with maximun age of 10 years and a mínimum score of 3 points on the Jadad scale. Search strategy: randomized clinical trials were searched with the word ‘temporomandibular joint myofascial pain’ combined using the Boolean connector ‘AND’ with the word ‘acupuncture’. Results: 116 articles were found of which 8 met all inclusion criteria. Conclusions: Although there are limitations and the evidence is moderate it can say that acupuncture is an effective therapeutic alternative in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders.
