The Convergence of CLIL and Montessori. A Didactic Approach for Primary Education

Abstract

(EN) The growing significance of languages due to globalisation has led to the introduction of new methodologies in the field of education, with the aim of developing linguistic skills that meet today's challenges. This Master's dissertation studies the potential of integrating the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology in a Montessori school to enhance bilingual education. Both methodologies place an emphasis on experiential learning by fostering autonomy, critical thinking, and meaningful language acquisition. This research draws on three years of experience in a Montessori school to examine the convergence of these methods, propose an innovative didactic approach, and evaluate the impact on students' cognitive, linguistic, and personal growth. Furthermore, the paper discusses the challenges and benefits of such integration and suggests areas for further research in bilingual education in these setting.
