Abstract

El control microbiológico de plagas se presenta como una alternativa sostenible y efectiva a los métodos tradicionales basados en pesticidas químicos. Este trabajo de fin de grado revisa la literatura existente sobre el uso de microorganismos entomopatógenos en la gestión de plagas agrícolas y urbanas. Se analizan diversos métodos de control microbiológico, incluyendo bioinsecticidas, hongos, virus y nematodos específicos, destacando sus mecanismos de acción y beneficios ambientales. Se presentan casos de éxito en diferentes cultivos y aplicaciones en salud pública, subrayando las ventajas del control biológico, como la reducción de la resistencia a plaguicidas y la menor toxicidad para el medio ambiente y los humanos.

Microbial pest control emerges as a sustainable and effective alternative to traditional chemical pesticide methods. This undergraduate thesis reviews existing literature on the use of entomopathogenic microorganisms in the management of agricultural and urban pests. Various microbial control methods are analyzed, including bioinsecticides, fungi, viruses, and specific nematodes, highlighting their mechanisms of action and environmental benefits. Success cases in different crops and public health applications are presented, emphasizing the advantages of biological control, such as reduced pesticide resistance and lower toxicity to the environment and humans.
