Abstract

monitored using costly geodetic and GPS techniques. This study introduces results achieved via Sentinel-1 satellite's remote sensing, employing radar interferometry PSI (Persistent Scatterers Interferometry). Covering 2015 to 2022, this initial regional temporal analysis detected displacements exceeding -40 mm/year, with up to 30 cm subsidence along the Eastern Coast housing Tía Juana, Lagunillas, and Bachaquero oil fields. For the first time, uplifts of 20 cm were identified on the Western Coast. A preliminary InSAR analysis indicated stability in the Maracaibo Lake Bridge. The technique showcased reliability in quantifying deformations, proving highly precise in solid ground and petroleum fields within Lake Maracaibo. The promising outcomes and substantial reflectivity of lake-based infrastructure to radar signals suggest potential expansion of these methods to diverse research fields.
